During the last few years there has been considerable consolidation of both wholesalers and retailers in New Zealand, to a point where we now have vertical integration, with retail chains owning wholesale companies, and vice-versa. A summary is shown below.
Stella Travel Services - (part of the Stella Travel Group). The largest wholesaler with two retail chains, Harvey World Travel and United Travel, being the major providers of business. Stella owns a number of Harrvey World Travel, while the remainder are franchise.
Air New Zealand Shops, Travel Smart and a number of independent agents also purchase both land and air
Travelplan Holidays – owned by the House of Travel Group and used exclusively to supply land and air to the HOT retail shops
Infinity Holidays & Ticket Centre – owned by Flight Centre. Infinity supplies land and Ticket Centre is the in-house consolidator for all Flight Centre shops
